new work connection in the new datacenter...
they give us 100Mbps up and down.
Note: this connection is being shared by over 50 servers and still holds that good. :)
the internet coming into this building is much more impressive...they have a 30Gbps connection to the interwebs via several carriers including a direct link to the internet backbone + sattelite uplink for redundancy. power room is extremely impressive...battery backups for this place are ridiculous! makes our server UPS's look like alkaline AA batteries lol. they have massive banks of huge batteries and power is transfered through huge copper rails. building also has its own dedicated power sub station from seattle city light. also a huge bank of backup generators. massive cooling units everywhere. place is off the hook.
digital fortress is the colo place we are in. boss is payin like 1200/mo for our servers to be here. we have 2 racks, 100Mbps internet, and power/cooling/security all included.
Yeah n.ot too bad considering how much it costs in power alone to run those servers...we are drawing about 75 amps combined from the PDU's. 5 PDU's supplying power to our shit. Best part out of moving to this place...boss gave me most of our UPS's since we don't need them in the datacenter. So I got to take home 8 APC smart ups 2000 rt's and 2 apc smart ups 1400's. All are rack mount,or you can stand em up on their sides.Originally Posted by dapriest

ours are three prong but one of the prongs is horizontal meaning it needs to be on a 20A breaker.
the wall outlets for them accept both styles of prongs and you can pick them up at the hardware store for less than $5. so I will need to change a few outlets to use them, but that's not hard...just flip the breaker off, swap the outlet (wiring is exactly the same) and flip the breaker back on. good to goalready have a 30A breaker for this end of the house because of my window A/C and my desktop running at the same time a couple years ago. so I'm already set on that end.
here's the difference in outlets...

Flipping off the breaker is for pussies. You haven't lived until you've arc welded your screwdriver onto the outlet because you're too lazy to go to breaker box in basement.![]()

Yea, I'm a lazy bastard & mine is in the basement ....Along with a certain screwdriver with electrial burn marks on it. :) It only takes once to eliminate laziness in future endeavors....I replaced all mine w/switches that glow when they're off. Fucking arc scared the shit outta me...lol...Screwdriver dangling from receptacle....fingers & hand tingling. Me listening to gf "I told you so" on my way to the basement. Was on the 3rd one too...No welding up until that 1.
