    Default trying to install xp wtf

    the partition was deleted then I formated the drive to ntfs. Now when I try to install windows xp i get pxe-e61: media test failure reboot and select proper boot device. My boot order is 1 cd drive 2 harddrive

    I am trying to install with my 2nd burned copy of xp and neither will load. Is it possible that the discs im using dont work well with isos or something.

    You computer is trying to boot off of the LAN. "PXE" ("pixie") booting is a LAN based booting rom built-in to NIC cards to allow for booting a network OS etc.

    Try resetting your bios to default and see if it will boot.

    If you installing os just install windows 7 dude...I made the switch I dont regret it one bit....

    hit the Esc key and PXE will not boot

    plug in your network cable if you are booting from LAN...

    im doing this for a friend it has a celeron processor and 500mb of ram. So ill stick with xp. I just didnt expect to get all these errors like bootmgr not found blah blah blah. I just burned windows xp onto a different cd brand and its working. So now well see what happens.

    I always burn my OS install discs at (quasi)lowest speeds and verfiy the burn after.. not worth those headaches for me!

    just use Nlite and be done with it.... easiest way to install an OS

    Yeah I always do 8x for burning isos. I have her pc setup the way its supposed to be now. Now I have someones else s laptop to fuck up
