So doing what tig posted is along with turning the FSB up or instead, and what are the differences in how you set the ram? I think I actually had it set with FSB @ 1333 earlier but had the cpu limiter on so it was only reading with a multiplier of 6. When I get home tomorrow I will set voltage up and set FSB to 1333 again. Thanks to all who have posted I don't know anything about OCing but I am really interested in learning.

I think the best advice came from Hades; take a lot of notes. It will save you from duplicating steps.

I wouldn't touch the RAM dude, should probably just run it at default. Try doing UNLINKED with 1333fsb and 9x multi for 3ghz. Set your vcore to 1.28 volts and start from there, boot. If you crash, increase the vcore by a small amount and try to boot again. Keep doing this untill you get into Windows, then run stability tests while keeping an eye on temps.

I just can't get 1333 to work, I even went up to just under 1.7 volts and it stopped bluescreening, but when I used burntest as soon as it hit 100% it shut pc off and was running in the 80C range. I can stay at 1199 with auto voltage but as soon as I go anywhere in the 1200's even if I bump voltage up it won't run. Are there certain FSB settings to srick to when you are bumping it up?

lets get basics out of the way...do you have your damn north bridge fan on your board? do you have an aftermarket proc cooler that greatly exceeds the cooling capacity of the stock cooler? does your ram have heat spreaders? and finally when you ran your ram linked, did you set FSB memory ratio to 'sync'?
if you answered no to ANY of these then go back and fix it!!! every one of those is a MUST for overclocking on that board. btw i highly recommend liquid cooling for your proc. im about to get a few more waterblocks for my chipset and my memory because im really gonna push the fucker pretty soon and fans just can't pull heat away near as fast or efficient as liquid. i forgot to mention turn off ALL of the cpu power saving features and leave them all off. no exec disable, no speed step or w/e disable all that shit. i'll give you more details when I get all the parts to get my desktop going again. need a couple more 90* fittings for liquid cooling setup because i got my new proc and 2nd 8800gtx with a waterblock on it. just gotta drain, add radiator and hook it all up and then i can walk you through this step by step with pics...i have the same damn board as you and let me tell you linked and synced memory is far more stable than unlinked. |

Well I think I got it stable. Linking and syncing made it stable. Are these max. temps acceptable? They stay low until I get 90-100% load. I know they are not ideal. I am going to go run BC2 and watch my temp.
![]() And don't say shit about my camera phone pic (It's easy to snap a pic and send it to my e-mail) |

Congrats dude your 1st successful overclock! Btw don't ever fucking post here about your volts being 1.7 i will drive down there slap you down your own street in front of your own neighbors turn you around at the end of the street and smack you back up again for an encore.
Volts increase temperature... and you don't need to worry about the southbridge just the northy. ANd yes the temps are well within agreeable ranges. GJ!

Cruzin: For the fellas that fold and overclock etc they all reccomend the same testing standards and most will not accept your "stable" OC unless you test 12-24 hours. It's easy to say yah I played games all night and it was fine and another to actually run resource heavy software like folding and remain stable. Encoding is another animal and an unstable computer will just ruin the encode wasting hours and hours of computer work.
