Okay. So I upped my connection speed to 30mbps today. Got a new modem from my ISP. I hooked up my old WRV54g router to it and it cut my speeds down to like 1.5 mbps. I am under the assumption this router supports speeds well beyond the 20 mbps. I have updated the firmware. Straight from the modem I am getting 28mbps then the shit 1.5 when I hook up the router. WHat gives? Can anyone help?

Unplug the router and plug it back in. Do a factory defaults by holding the button that says reset where the ethernet ports are. If that doesn't work, flash your router to dd-wrt. It also could be that your router is physically damaged, either from a bad soldier or something retardedly retarded. |

joe I might still have a d-link gigabit 5port switch I could send you. I'll have to see if I still have it.
edit -one like this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...248&CatId=2796 It sounds like your router is borked man. Last edited by MintyMadness; 11-03-2009 at 11:22 AM.. Reason: correction |

? I'm pretty sure his router is borked. He's gonna reset it to default.. that won't work. Then he's going to ask for help flashing to dd-wrt. That will most likely either not work, or fail and he will brick his router completely. I'm just bypassing steps 2-9 to get to the end result. |

Bricking is pretty easy for someone who doesn't pay attention to instructions. Also, if its already useless, what is there to lose? You're telling him to get a switch, I'm assuming he needs a router hence why hes trying to get it to work. What have you tried. Have you tried flashing the router to ddwrt. I've had lots of success fixing major problems because the linysys firmware is bloated crap. |

Man you are SO sensitive. Switch / router. In the case of one computer using it for one modem to get on the internet, what's the difference? |
