I'd still be pissed regardless of the 1.75 million. I wonder how man times this has happened.

The state is not going to pay to clear your name and I am sure that guy does not have the money to pay, but thanks to the Innocence Project he was able to get a fair shake. They review the case heavily before they take it on. My college girlfriend did some volunteer paralegal work for them on the Herman Atkins case. The part that sucks if they are guilty you have been going to bat for a rapist for 2-3 years only to find out they are lying. Oh, and that money he received, they get a cut up to 30% back in 1999 not sure about now.

bottom line any amount of money after being in jail that long is GOOD. It's a great thing be a free man... he will have a story to tell for another 10 million dollars. I for one would watch a movie like that or even buy the book. He retires a millionaire.. that right there is the American dream.
the 1.7 mil is peanuts.

50%? Is that all jails? City, County, State & Federal? Or just Death Row inmates?
If you mean total, that implies every other person has been wrongfully convicted. I just made an appearance in City Court recently & can assure you that every other person convicted was not innocent.
