    Default Counter-sniping complaint

Just a quick note - we were playing rush when we had a team-mate covering us as a sniper.

An admin (won't name names) said he is not allowed to be a sniper because he was attacker.

Is that a rule? My issue is that while the defenders can snipe - its hard to counter-snipe without....well...snipers.

Help me out with this just want to make sure I don't break any rules in the future.

I said it, and I didn't say it was a rule. I said get over and help your fuckin team take an objective because, well, their team lost on the first set of MCOM's because of snipers.

There doesn't need to be more than 2 or 3 snipers in a 16 man team when attacking, especially if you can't kill everyone on the opposing team as they spawn or try to disarm the MCOM. Obviously having more snipers hurts the chances of your team actually setting an MCOM so yeah, stop fuckin sniping on RUSH ATTACK.

While I agree in principle, he was our top sniper, so I'm not sure why he was singled out and told to switch classes. I certainly don't mind having an attack team with a lopsided amount of snipers, especially when the defending team has many snipers itself.

PS - we had exactly 3 snipers. Two of them were mostly useless (like snipers usually are).

And I suppose you didn't specifically mention that as a rule, but when an admin tells a user to take an action regarding the class they are using, it is usually interpreted as a rule.

It wasn't a big deal, just wanted to clarify in case I need to be a sniper myself down the road. I always enjoy playing on your server and I appreciate the opportunity.

And thank you for answering my question xcryox.

    Game on!

I find it worthless when a team has 6 snipers as far behind the MCOMS as far you can go watching your team get smashed. If you are not in front of or at least level with your MCOMS (to prevent enemy getting to MCOMS) you have no business sniping. There are 2 kinds of snipers long distance that go 20-1 :jerk: and aggressive snipers that go for MCOMS and drop arty/C4 when it is needed usually with a KDR that reflects it . The worst is when you have 6 snipers in the back and with the enemy easily arming MCOMs left and right. I'll shut up now.

Being a DC vet, I must ponder the possibility of '42 style arty in a rush mode. Wouldn't it be much more rewarding if the MCOM station was destroyed by a volley of MLRS fire that you as a scout set up with a good arty-man?

    Am I right?

The reason behind them taking out arty and c4 damage to mcom's is because of teamwork. They don't want single people to come in and capture all the points, even thought that's usually how it works out.

Just play to help your team complete it's objective... to win.

Ill argue the sniper standpoint all day because sniping is my favorite thing to do in bc2.

Yea its way harder to go set an mcom by yourself if your a sniper as opposed to assault, but it should not be up to one person.

When I snipe i get stupid high KDR and usualy push to the back of the defenders base and rape them all from behind. When I defend and snipe, i eat up the other teams tickets.

I think I'm confused. Doesn't it still take just one guy to plant a charge?

True, I'm not too sure msyelf why they did that exactly. There's a lot of stuff that works in theory that just doesn't work out to well in the real world.

You can't rape me if I don't let you get behind me cryo.

    Like communism?

But seriously though lets talk realism because I'm still a bit confused as to your angle. Once the "MCOM" unit has the top open (exposed), as seen in the game: I could pee on it and disable it.

After all, it's a delicate piece of electronics. Realism dictates that a slab of C4 would probably make short work of it. If not, then what sort of nuclear haberdashery am I planting when I walk up and hold "E"?

There are limits to what the game can allow you to do. I'm really not sure where the fuck you're going with this, but the more people that get to the MCOM, the better the chances of ONE setting it. So if your team has a lot of snipers sitting in the back, then they have less people trying to get to the MCOM and less of a chance for that ONE person to set it. It seems simple enough to me.

True. But why should the server admins dictate how people plant a charge (or don't plant a charge) on the MCOM station? This is where you are taking the discussion IMHO.
